Hi, I'm Leeah Harvey, owner of Cookies & Clean Housekeeping. I'm a DMV native and professional home organizer whose passion for creating calmer, more manageable homes was born out of necessity.
Growing up, I was never really taught how to clean or manage clutter. My parents were busy young professionals raising five children during a recession — I do not blame them. We were fortunate to have a wonderful housekeeper and plenty of storage space, which made it easier to keep the clutter tucked out of sight.
It wasn't until I went out into the world, got married, had two children, and became responsible for a home of my own that I realized how unprepared I felt. Even with my husband's help, I was overwhelmed. The constant visual clutter left me frustrated and wondering whether our home was simply too small — or how anyone managed without live-in help.
Then one day, I took an honest look around and realized that our home wasn't too small. We simply had too much stuff. Much of what surrounded me was trash, recycling, or someone else's potential treasure that I had been meaning to donate. Our home had slowly begun to look and feel like a storage room, and that clutter had become a major source of stress and overwhelm.
And so began my first major home organization and decluttering project. Over the next two months I cleared out more than 50 bags of trash, recycling, and donations. I gave every nook and cranny a thorough cleaning and organized our belongings so we could easily find and use the things we needed.
The process required dedication, but it never felt like work. I genuinely enjoyed watching my efforts transform my home and improve the way I felt living in it.
Once my home was finished, I volunteered to organize my parents' home. The days flew by as I did work that felt both enjoyable and meaningful. I knew how much it would help the people I loved.
Then my aunt reached out. Next came a family friend, and eventually a complete stranger who had been referred to me. Their heartfelt appreciation and insistence that my work deserved to be compensated helped me recognize something important: I had discovered an opportunity to provide a truly needed service while doing work I genuinely loved.
Sometimes it's okay to simply throw things away.
The things we keep can begin to weigh us down. By clearing the clutter, we create the freedom to live more peacefully.

Of course, donating is wonderful. Selling items that still have value is great too. Whenever possible, we encourage sustainable, earth-conscious ways to part with things you no longer need. But sometimes, the kindest thing you can do for yourself is let go. Making those decisions is often the very first step toward creating a home that feels lighter, calmer, and easier to enjoy.
That's why Cookies & Clean Housekeeping is about so much more than cleaning. We're here to help you sort through the overwhelm. Whether it's deciding what can be donated, what might be worth selling, or what should be responsibly recycled or discarded, we'll help you make a plan and take the next step. We even offer decluttering support, donation assistance, and proper disposal of trash and recyclable materials, so you don't have to figure it all out alone.
At Cookies & Clean Housekeeping, our mission is simple: to help you reclaim your home, reduce the stress that clutter can bring, and leave you with a space that feels as comforting as a freshly baked cookie. Whether we're deep cleaning, organizing, helping you donate items to a new home, or ensuring trash and recycling are disposed of responsibly, our goal is to make your life just a little easier.

I've always had a sweet tooth and nothing satisfies my craving quite like a chocolate chip cookie. Have you ever wondered why fresh baked cookies are harder to come by than ice cream? I have. So began a tradition of my daughter and I baking cookies for Santa. The mess created from that venture was shocking. The cleaning that took place was extensive. At least we had a sweet treat to lessen the blow of cleaning. That tradition became the inspiration behind our name. And we LOVE cookies and cream ice cream of course.
Anyway——
Sometimes life gets a little messy. Sometimes making something wonderful means creating a little chaos first. But with the right help, every mess can become something warm, welcoming, and worth coming home to.
Because the first step is letting go of the clutter.
The second step? Cookies. 🍪
Tell us about your home. We'll help you sort through the overwhelm — and leave something sweet waiting when the work is done.
